Decorah Eagles 2015-2016 Season Begins, with Help from RRP
In late fall and early winter, the Decorah Eagles visit the nest often to do seasonal "nestorations" preparing for the coming eggs later this winter. Be sure to check in often to find them working.
Mom and Dad stop by N2, as cameras fire up for the new season.

November 18 - Mr. and Mrs. Owl stop by for an unannounced evening visit.
Congratulations Once Again to the Decorah Eagles, and RRP!
The Eagle parents of Decorah were successful in producing 3 eggs again this year. While only 4% of eagles lay 3 eggs, this pair have successfully raised 3 young from egg to flight, since 2009. They are indeed an incredible pair!

March 8 ~ Sad Announcement by RRP:
Decorah Eaglet Four Electrocuted
We are sorry to announce that Four, the single remaining bird from the 2014 Decorah alumni to remain in the wild, was electrocuted on Tuesday, March 2nd. This is the fourth eaglet from Decorah that we know of to die from electrocution. Bob and a good friend picked her carcass up on Thursday after the Eagle Valley team notified us that they received a mortality ping. Bob and Brett examined her on Saturday and verified the cause of death.

The Decorah Eagles, and all Birds of Prey, have lost a good, good friend, as have those of us who came to know him through his life's work. What a fine example he was of pursuing your passions, and living with excellence!
Your spirit will continue to soar in the hearts of so many of us, Bob! Celebration of Life for Bob Anderson,
of Raptor Resource Project
The plans for services honoring the life of Bob Anderson have been posted by RRP. Here is the information:
Bob's Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Trout Hatchery in Decorah at 1:00pm (link: http://goo.gl/sxdsBg). Bob's celebration is public and all are welcome to attend. His obituary can be found here: http://goo.gl/fG8lbQ Bob's passions were his work with falcons and the Decorah Eagles cam. Bob loved the role the eagles played in education, and keenly felt the surcease they gave others towards the end of his own life. Although we are still working out the details of a way forward, Bob's work and legacy will go on. We have more projects planned for this fall, including a Decorah North project, work on a possible catalyst for nest building in the area of the now-defunct N2, ongoing activities in the Philippines, and replacement of several nest boxes. |
If you would like to make a donation to support Bob's legacy, please follow this link to paypal: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=6S8DPJ2EWHR9J
